How to open and read your book

It only takes a few minutes.

1. Save your book

When you buy, you get a link. Tap the link to save the book to your phone or computer.

The book is a PDF. That means it looks the same on any device. Once it is saved, you can read it any time, even with no internet.

2. Open it in a free reading app

Your phone can open the book on its own, but a reading app makes it look nicer and makes the links work. Please add the free app for your phone. It takes one minute.

Android phone (Samsung and most others)

  • Open the Play Store.
  • Search for ReadEra.
  • Tap Install. It is free.
  • Open your book in ReadEra.

iPhone or iPad

  • Open the book file.
  • Tap the Share button. It is a box with an arrow going up.
  • Tap Apple Books. Your book opens. Apple Books is already on your phone.

Trouble opening it? Get the free ReadEra app from the App Store (search ReadEra, tap Get), then open the book in ReadEra. It works the same as it does on Android.

3. Move through the book

  • Turn pages: swipe left for the next page. Swipe right to go back.
  • Contents page: near the front is a list of everything in the book. Tap any name and it jumps you there.
  • Book menu (bookmarks): every reading app has a list or menu button, often three little lines or a ribbon. Tap it to jump to the main parts.
  • In ReadEra: tap once on the open book, then tap the three lines at the top of the screen to open the bookmarks.

4. Tap the links to open the Bible

Some words and pictures are links you can tap. Tap them to read that passage in the Bible online. You need internet for the links to open.

If a link does nothing, open the book in the app from Step 2, not a quick preview.

5. If something goes wrong

  • The file will not open: make sure it finished downloading, then open it from your Files or Downloads folder.
  • Still will not open on iPhone? Get the free ReadEra app from the App Store, then open the book in ReadEra.
  • The links do nothing: open the book in the reading app, not the preview, and check that you are online.
  • The words look small: zoom in by placing two fingers on the screen and spreading them apart.
